"Float My Boat Party" 15/11/08

The Float My Boat Party was such a huge success, the first of fundraising events in my Ocean 2 Ocean campaign. It was a ticket only event, with over 60 guests/crew on a great waterside venue. We had blow up globes hung from the ceilings, world maps on the wall, balloons, ocean-dressed mannequins, food, raffles and competitions.

The main attraction of the night was our special guest Charles Hanson BBC Bargain Hunts expert auctioneer. He had driven all the way from Darby to be at the party to help raise money for my ocean challenge. As the boat party was really getting going, Charles made a great entrance dressed as the lighthouse of Portland Bill and his girlfriend as the lighthouse keeper.

The auction was a fantastic event and the guest weren’t shy in bidding and had some comedy moments with Charles The Lighthouse. I was so shocked at how much people were bidding for some of the fantastic lots such as a hotel stay in Lulworth Cove, pole dancing lessons and physiotherapy sessions with me. I am so grateful to all the local businesses that donated to this very special event.

After the success of the auction, people danced away to funky sounds of the DJ who certainly got the crew gybing away! Thanks to one and all who were involved in this party, it was truly fantastic…..

I am now able to start planning being a crewmember on the third leg from South Africa to Australia. Hurray, getting there one step at a time.
